1997 / Michael Frasca / Centerville
"The Record," created and installed by artist Michael Frasca, was selected through a competition to select a public artwork to commemorate Centerville and Washington Township's Bicentennial in 1996. The piece consists of twelve one-ton terracotta books, stacked one on top of the other. The top book is slightly turned from the rest of the stack. The books are an obvious representation of the library, but they also symbolize the knowledge of the early pioneers who settled the area. The piece is sited in a circular landscaped area set in brick.
