Bearded Rice stands with proper right leg pointed outwards. Proper right arm is fully extended forward while proper left arm holds scrolls at his side. He wears an overcoat, vest and trousers. To his proper right is a woman sitting on a stack of books instructing a small child; a book is open and rests on her proper right thigh. To the proper left a young woman kneels on her proper right leg supporting a tablet on the left; behind her stands a young boy holding a quill. In the earlier remodeling of the Museum of Art it had been moved to storage at the MOA, but it was re-installed in the Nord Family Greenway in 2020.
