Five geometric elements stand tall with curved surfaces and angular edges. Some elements are pierced by rectangular portals. Surfaces are a flat putty color. These original five pieces were joined by four other sculpture in 2001 to make up the Turning Point Garden. The sculptures were moved from their previous location to make way for construction of the Tinkham Veale University Center in 2014. However, In 2019, the sculptures were reinstalled at the John and Mildred Putnam Sculpture Collection at Case Western Reserve University.
Turning Point was Phillip Johnson's first foray into pure sculpture. He was 90 years old when the piece was dedicated in 2001.
