A bronze horizontal sundial sitting atop a granite pedestal. It features a figure of Father Time holding a scythe and a gnomon shaped like a bird.
The sundial marks the site of the first Ohio University building, which was erected in 1807 and razed in 1841. The sundial was installed on the 100th anniversary of the building's construction, in 1907.
The piece sits on the lawn in between Galbreath Chapel and University Terrace.
