The sculptural figure of Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare as well as the sponsor to the arts. The sculpture is marble and sandstone. It is one of multiple figures sculpted by J. Massey Rhind outside of the Butler Institute of American Art. Rhind was the chief procurer of paintings for Mr. Butler when he planned on building he museum. Rhind and Butler collaborated again for the Mckinley Memorial in Niles, Ohio.
