Plaque reads "Otto B. Schoepfle 1910-1992, Planner, Designer, Caretaker and Donor of 'The Garden That Grew,' Schoepfle Garden, This sculpture made possible through generous donations to the Lorain County Metro Parks." Schoepfle was a local banker who repurchased the family estate and gradually developed a 77-acre garden along the Vermilion river, which he donated to the Lorain Metro Parks.
