Sing the Queen City
2015 / Tommy Sheehan / Cincinnati
This sculpture, made from aluminum and painted red and white, represents a quote from the final stanza of the poem "Seven Hills and a Queen to Name Them." The poem was created via crowd-sourcing for a city-wide interactive project called CincyInk (through ArtWorks Cincinnati), which included a tattoo project and mini-murals of quotes from the poem in various locations around the city. The nickname of "The Queen City" was first applied to the city of Cincinnati in the 19th century.
