This bronze work by Carolyn Manto depicts a mother and child and is one of two life-size sculptures that are part of The Black Brigade of Cincinnati monument.

The monument was the result of a collaboration among a number of artists and was dedicated on September 9, 2012 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the defense of Cincinnati in 1862. It also includes several bronze plaques (including narrative explanations and relief scenes) and the names of the 718 members of the Black Brigade.
